“In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” –The Beatles

I knew going into this project that I find my meaning in life through others; through relationships, music, literature, the arts, education, travelling.  What I didn’t know was just how much these elements actually shaped my life.  Of course I understood that they gave my life meaning, but I didn’t fully realize that these aspects of my life helped me arrive at where I am today, and made me who I am today.  I learned that I depend on these different facets of my being to get me through this thing called life and help me live my life to the fullest.  For me, “living to the fullest” includes being able to help others and spread the love to as many people as possible.  I aspire to do this mainly through my future career as a teacher, but also in my personal life.  I receive so much love from all the people I have photographed, and I can only hope that I can give as much back to them.  It’s easy to forget how loved we really are, and I like to remind people of their value and just how much they are loved.  This project allowed me to focus on some of the people who mean the most to me and remind myself of how much I learn from each of my relationships.  For me, this is the most enriching way to find my meaning in life.

I chose to write on a colorful background when all the others were white to emphasize (however cliché) the color that each person I chose to photograph brings to my life.  My life is so colorful, and new colors are being added by the minute.  I also decided to use words written by someone else instead of quoting myself due to the fact that I derive meaning from life through others and the art that they create.
